What I believe

These are the convictions I stand on. I hold them with confidence and with humility, and I’m always glad to talk about them over coffee.

• ScriptureThe Bible is the inspired, true, and authoritative Word of God, without error, and as alive today as when it was written. We read it humbly, let Scripture interpret Scripture, and depend on the Holy Spirit.
• GodOne God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• The gospelWe are sinners separated from a holy God. In His mercy, God sent His Son, Jesus, who lived without sin, died in our place, and rose again. Salvation is all grace, received through repentance and faith, and it changes how we live, love, forgive, and endure.
• The Holy SpiritThe Spirit awakens our hearts, comforts us, and makes us more like Jesus. I believe His gifts are given to every believer to build up the body and to be used in love (1 Corinthians 12:7).
• The churchBaptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper were given by Jesus Himself. The church is led by qualified elders and served by deacons, with every believer called to make disciples.
• Marriage and brokennessMarriage is a lifelong covenant that reflects Christ’s love for His people. Where marriages break, God draws near. Divorce is part of some stories, but it is never the headline of anyone’s identity in Christ.
