Wonderful Counselor
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.[1]Isaiah 9:6, English Standard Version
On this Christmas morning I am reminded of the verse in Isaiah as it talks of some of the names of Christ. The first one, Wonderful Counselor, reminds today of how we should look at life. Today we are met with an tremendous amount of opinions of what we should or shouldn’t do, how we should or shouldn’t feel, and what we should or shouldn’t think. Somehow the truth of it all gets lost in the shuffle.
I want to encourage you to remember! He is the highest and ultimate One to whom we may turn for counsel, and His Word is the well from which we may draw divine wisdom. What could be more wonderful than that? In fact, one of the most glorious aspects of Christ’s perfect sufficiency is the wonderful counsel and great wisdom He supplies in our times of despair, confusion, fear, anxiety, and sorrow. He is the quintessential Counselor.
The law of the is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.[2]Psalm 19:7-9, English Standard Version
Scripture is sufficient. Why not see what it has to say for you?
