David "Buck" Fleming

Our lives may be the only Bible some people read.

I was born into a family that, at the time, had little connection to the Christian faith. Growing up, my home life was shaped by strong values, but faith was not central to our family dynamic. I remember feeling a deep sense of curiosity about the world around me, always searching for something more, though I didn’t know exactly what that was. My childhood was filled with normal ups and downs, but even then, I sensed that there was something greater than myself waiting to be discovered.

Coming to Christ

During my early teens, I encountered the message of Jesus Christ in a way that transformed my life. I had not really been exposed to Christ or His teachings.  I attended church at 14, hearing a very clear presentation of who Christ is and who I am in relation to creation.  The truth of God settled on my heart and the Gospel became personal. I felt an undeniable conviction and surrendered my life to Christ.

Being the first believer in my family came with its challenges. I had no spiritual mentors at home, and I often felt like I was navigating my faith journey alone. But God was faithful, providing me with opportunities to grow. Over time, my prayers were answered as my family also came to know Christ. Watching their transformation was a testimony to the power of God’s grace and persistence, and it deepened my belief that no one is ever too far from His reach.

Young Adulthood & Education

As I moved into adulthood, my passion for learning and communication became more evident. I attended the International Institute in Lewisville, TX, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education/Communication. I was drawn to both technical fields and leadership roles, and this combination would go on to shape much of my professional and ministry work.

During this time, I also deepened my understanding of Scripture. I devoured books on theology and discipleship, seeking wisdom from mentors and church leaders. This season of my life was formative—not only in building a career but also in strengthening my foundation in Christ.

Career & Ministry Development

My professional journey took me into the world of AV and UX service engineering, where I had the opportunity to work in various roles:

  • Conference Center AV Manager (The Whitlock Group) – I supported high-profile events and managed AV technology at the Microsoft Conference Center.
  • Senior UX Service Engineer (Microsoft Corporation) – I oversaw the global development of user research testing facilities, managing teams and providing technical support for over 300 engineers and designers.
  • Systems Design Engineer (Extron Electronics) – I assisted consultants and integrators with AV/IT system designs, provided technical training, and traveled regionally for client meetings.

While my career in technology was fulfilling, my heart was always drawn to ministry. Throughout my adult life, I was involved in small group leadership, biblical counseling, pastoral care, and even church planting. I found myself deeply invested in discipleship—helping others grow in their faith and navigate life’s challenges through a biblical lens.

Spiritual Growth & Theological Development

My faith journey has been shaped by key influences, both in person and through writings. I have pursued both formal and informal theological education, earning certifications in mental health coaching, addiction recovery, and church-based counseling. These studies reinforced my deep belief in the authority of Scripture and the power of discipleship.

Over the years, I’ve wrestled with complex theological questions. One of the biggest challenges has been understanding church leadership structures, particularly the roles of men and women in ministry. As someone who holds a complementarian view, I have had to navigate these discussions with grace while remaining faithful to my convictions.

I believe that ministry must be approached with both humility and confidence—holding firmly to biblical truth while extending grace to those who are seeking spiritual freedom in Christ. My desire is to equip others to understand Scripture deeply and apply it practically in their daily lives.

Current Work & Calling

Today, I serve in Facilities Support and as a Ministry Apprentice at Belmont Church in Nashville. This role has given me the opportunity to be deeply involved in the life of the church, supporting its mission and engaging with believers in meaningful ways. My heart for discipleship, biblical counseling, and church planting continues to grow, and I feel called to help equip others to live out their faith with conviction.

Looking ahead, I trust in God’s leading for my future. Whether through pastoral work, counseling, church revitalization, or teaching, I am committed to being a faithful steward of the calling He has placed on my life. My journey has been one of faith, perseverance, and unwavering trust in Christ—a testimony that God can take an individual from humble beginnings and use them for His glory. I am excited for what lies ahead, knowing that He who began a good work in me will carry it to completion.
